Our Association offers numerous sponsorship and advertising opportunities throughout the year, targeting both members and consumers. The BIA has several key events that are annual and biannual. These events all have sponsorship, advertising and general information which you can find here. You may exit and re-enter the Parade of Homes in the same day, just be sure to pick-up a wristband on your way out from the kiosk in the entry/exit tent. If you do not get a wristband prior to exiting, you will not be permitted back into the Parade without purchasing a ticket. You are welcome to take pictures of the homes as you tour.

In addition to looking for a home that will work well into their old age, these buyers are more active than ever. They plan to more fully enjoy pre- and post-retirement years, trading hours of housekeeping, yard work and maintenance with more time for hobbies, travel and leisure pursuits. Gray and/or greige (a gray/beige hybrid) with white painted trim is still the preferred decorating style.

This space still exists, but it has been re-purposed. Most interior designers envision the library as a Bourbon or wine tasting room for a small group of guests to hang out in a private space. The exterior design of most homes resembles the popular barn style. We also saw a comeback of mid century modern furniture and light fixtures. This house consists of many wood pieces that come from local Amish families. The entire house had a black and white color scheme.
Unfinished wood accents, whether in the form of shiplap or bar accents, also was used quite often. To no one’s surprise, we saw lots of granite in these $600,000+ homes. What was surprising was how many times we saw the relatively new leather finish on the stone counters. A leathered finish differs from the smooth, polished surface you are probably used to seeing. It has a soft, textured appearance that has a slight sheen but isn’t shiny. This textured surface means the granite hides fingerprints and smudges pretty well, making it a more practical surface for day-to-day use.

Typically the second lower level is the unfinished storage area of a five-level split. This refresh of the design creates more living space in the same footprint. The Maple Craft home is a customized, contemporary ranch, adapted to meet the needs of people of all abilities and ages.
I’ve never been a huge fan, but having a kitchen island whose cabinets are a different color from the rest of the cabinets is still very popular. Leathered granite counters in the Ambassador Homes kitchen. The other surface I saw that I found striking was the Geoluxe Pyrolithic Stone counter in the Manor Homes kitchen. According to the Manor representative, Geoluxe is constructed of a mixture of mineral-based materials that has very high heat, scratch, stain, and chemical resistance. I didn’t ask how it compares in price to quartz, marble, or granite, but I assume it is at the top of the price point. I've teamed up with BIA to give 1 of my readers 2 tickets to the The 2017 Parade! The winner will be announced on my Instagram on Friday, August 25th.

Right now, we have a 2-to-1 Matching Gift Campaign, tripling the impact of every donation. We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute, we promise it will be put to good use. Access to knowledge is more important than ever—so if you find all these bits and bytes useful, please pitch in. As you plan your budget for next year, we hope you’ll keep the BIA in mind.
With 4 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, and over 3,800 square feet with a 3 car garage, the Lauderdale is perfect for big families. You would expect that new homes display some “green” design features to improve sustainability. Unfortunately, local builders are satisfied with energy efficient appliances, furnaces and standard wall insulation. Many buyers demand first floor bedrooms to avoid climbing stairs. Hand-scraped hardwood (or laminate made to look like hand-scraped hardwood) was the predominant flooring throughout the Parade.
First, that first lower level was still high enough that it could employ full windows instead of just short windows higher on the wall. This made these lower level rooms feel much more open and part of the living space rather than basement-like rec room spaces. Second, having the first lower level only a few steps down allowed for a full set of stairs down to a finished full basement.
The magazine provides news and information targeted to the wide variety of building-related professions of our members.. The homes will have 2-3 finished levels, plus the exteriors. The tour will take you between 2 and 3 hours and includes a lot of walking. Since 1943, the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio has represented single and multi-family homebuilders, developers and remodelers throughout our region. Other members include trade partners, suppliers and service professionals. Most homes come with a front porch to improve community, as homeowners will have more opportunities to talk to neighbors.
This ranch provides low-maintenance living, but its three bedrooms, two full baths and two half baths ensure there’s still plenty of space for visitors. According to a study by the National Association of Home Builders , 75 percent of baby boomers (buyers age 51-70) prefer a single-story home. That number jumps to 88 percent among seniors.

Please leave them in the driveways while you visit each house. The Parade is open rain or shine, so make sure you bring rain gear or sunscreen. In instances of extreme weather/storms, the Parade may close temporarily and guests will be asked to stay in the homes for their safety. Information will be posted on this website and the Parade social media channels. A family-oriented, traditional hometown, Delaware offers a sophisticated, urban atmosphere.
I heard lots of comments about how much people liked it. The BIA’s magazine Building Insider is published 6 times a year, with a special section addition covering the Parade. It is the only local publication providing an in-depth guide to our local homebuilding industry.
